Bacon Chilli Cheese Fries


Not the Healthiest meal you can make, but if you can restrict yourself to only once or twice a month, we can then recommend this recipe.


Ingredients - Feeds 2

Medium potatoes 6 Each
Bacon 250 g
Processed cheese 100 g
Milk 250 Ml
Flour 1 Tbl Spoon
Crying Boy Peri Peri 100 Ml
Salt 1 Teaspoon
Salt and Pepper add To Taste
Sunflower oil 1.5 Litre

How to Prepare

1. Cut potatoes into the style of chips of your choosing.

2. Place cut potatoes (chips) into a pot of water add a teaspoon of salt and gently bring water to the boil, once boiling turn off the heat and allow to cook for an extra 15 mins, rinse in cold water and allow to cool on the side.

3. Place bacon into a pan at low temperature turning every 7 mins or so, do this for 30 mins then increase the temperature to medium high for 10 - 15 mins turning more often until crispy and most of the fat has rendered out.

4. Remove the crispy bacon from the pan leaving the bacon fat. Add the flour to the bacon fat and stir for about 5 mins or until mixture foams, add the milk in small amounts, whisk smooth each time until the whole 250ml have been integrated. Add salt and pepper to taste.

5. Roughly cube the cheese then add it to the sauce and stir until it is all melted and smooth then turn off the heat.

6. Fry the chips in deep fryer till light brown and crispy, remove from oil and allow to drain for 2 mins.

7. Chop the bacon to your preferred chunkiness (we made it very fine) add to the chips along with the Crying Boy Peri Peri sauce, mix through.

8. Plate and top with the cheese sauce.

9. Enjoy
